The Write Escape is a four-day, three-night writing retreat set on a stunning lakefront property in Monticello, NY, surrounded by peak fall foliage.

  • Teresa Louise Johnson, Author & Yoga Teacher

“The ice breaker activities (like sip & paint) helped get us past any initial awkwardness, and Kara and Laura came up with some great ones (hello, tarot card character analysis!) And of course, I was honoured to teach a yoga session one morning.”

  • Catie O'Neill, Author

“Laura and Kara really planned out and executed the most perfectly balanced writing retreat. The group that attended with me was a great fit, and the house and location were perfect. I can’t wait for next year!”

  • Melissa Patton, Author

“The retreat provided time for writing, gaining new insights, and having real fun. I’d suggest giving yourself this opportunity. Take time for your writing and growth as an author. I’d recommend this retreat.”

Testimonials

  • Catie O'Neill, Author

“The workshops were so helpful, and I particularly loved the tarot character building, which was timed so well for where I was in my project.

The paint-and-sip was so relaxing and such a fun bonding experience that it had me laughing and feeling at peace. I loved that we also got in a great yoga session, lots of writing time, and some awesome meals.”

  • Melissa Patton, Author

“The experience was warm, welcoming, and well-planned. Staying together in one house created a close-knit environment with great chances to learn from each other.”

  • Teresa Louise Johnson, Author & Yoga Teacher

“The activities, outings, and knowledge we gained from the retreat versus the cost couldn’t be beat. I was surprised by how much the hosts were able to offer us, and the welcome gift was much appreciated (I’m still using everything in there!)”
